Travel Alert: Ghana [March 15, 2022]


The US Embassy in Ghana issued a security alert on March 9th warning its citizens over the threat of kidnapping for ransom in the northern Upper East and Upper West regions. The warning appears to be precautionary advice and does not suggest any significant security threat. Various foreign governments typically advise against all travel or against all but essential travel in northern Ghana due to persistent insecurity.
