The purpose of the action is to demand an amendment of a regulation that they claim would affect their income. The protesters in Surabaya may also gather outside other sites, such as the governor’s office. Hundreds of people are likely participating in each action.
Heightened security measures are likely at the protest sites on February 22nd. Localized transport disruptions are probable; the truck drivers may block roads nearby the gathering locations. Shipping delays are possible. Clashes between demonstrators and security personnel and mass arrests are possible; the police said it would disperse any protest by the drivers.
