Travel Alert: Scotland [January 18,2022]

Travel Alert

Protesters and advocats supporting the Scottish independence movement, headed by the All Under One Banner, plan to gather in Glasgow, January 22nd. Demonstrators will meet at George Square and march from 12:00 to Glasgow Green. Attendance is expected to reach into the thousands.

Extra police will deploy to monitor and facilitate the action as needed. Large crowds and associated security measures, including possible road closures and movement restrictions, will likely prompt localized transport disruptions along the march route. Public transport in the area may be canceled or diverted. The event is likely to be largely peaceful, though isolated clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out, particularly if activists attempt to breach any security cordons. Bystanders are unlikely to be directly targeted in any violence but would face an indirect threat of harm.
