Taxi drivers represented by the New Alliance of Angola Taxi Drivers (ANATA), Angola Taxi Drivers Association (ATA), and Luanda Taxi Drivers Association (ATL) suspended their indefinite nationwide strike on January 11th. The suspension was due to alleged persecution by police. The strike began on January 10th, and involved roadblocks and incidents of vandalism and arson. Police arrested approximately 100 taxi drivers. The strike was initially organized to denounce discrimination and effects on business due to COVID-19. Further action by taxi drivers remains possible in the coming weeks.
