Government officials are keeping current measures in place to an elevated security posture in Kousseri, Far North Region over the coming days following clashes involving the Arab and Muslim communities January 10-11th. On January 10th, a member of the Arab community reportedly killed two members of the Muslim community before being arrested by security forces. Following the incident, unrest was reported overnight in Kousseri, with live ammunition being fired. At least two people were killed. Additional security personnel were deployed in the area following the incident. As of January 11th, peace has been restored as of now but further attacks are likely in the future.
