Protests are ongoing across Sudan, including Khartoum, January 6th, to denounce the killings of protesters in recent demonstrations and the current political impasse. Heightened security has been implemented across Khartoum; the main streets leading to the presidential palace and the army headquarters have reportedly been closed. Security forces are reportedly firing tear gas at protesters who managed to get close to the presidential palace. Telecommunication services had also been cut ahead of the protests.

Demonstrations are also occurring in other cities including Port Sudan, Atbara, and Wad Madani. Transport and business disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the protests. further violence is possible
