Travel Alert: France [December 15, 2021]

Travel Alert

Anti-racism activists plan to demonstrate in several cities across France on December 18. The largest rally will likely take place in Paris where participants will gather at Place de la Concorde before marching to Gare du Nord around 15:00; the exact march route is unclear but includes Place de Clichy and Boulevard Barbes. In Lyon, demonstrators will assemble at Place de la Comedie and Place Louis Pradel starting at 14:30; a related action will take place at Place Arnaud Bernard in Toulouse beginning at 11:00.

Smaller and probably less disruptive demonstrations are likely in other urban centers nationwide. Additional police will almost certainly deploy to monitor any gatherings that may materialize. Related security measures could prompt localized transport disruptions. Isolated clashes between police and activists cannot be ruled out. Have multiple travel routes planned as well as giving an extra hour for travel.
