Protesting street vendors are causing disruptions along roads in central Santiago early November 30,2021. Protests are ongoing along Bascunan Guerrero road and significant traffic disruptions have been reported in the area. Traffic disruptions were also briefly reported along Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, widely known as La Alameda, central Santiago’s main thoroughfare however, traffic along the avenue had been cleared as of 09:30.
The protest follows the police confiscation of goods sold by unauthorized street vendors in the Meiggs neighborhood. Clashes remain possible, especially if security forces attempt to disperse demonstrators. Significant disruptions are likely to persist in the area in the coming hours.
