Travel Alert: Kabul [September 13, 2021]

Travel Alert

First Pakistan International Airlines flight since foreign withdrawal lands in Kabul. A passenger plane from Islamabad touched down in Kabul today and marks the first flight to land in Afghanistan from Pakistan since the chaotic final withdrawal of US troops last month. The Pakistani state airline flight from Islamabad landed at the Kabul airport, which was severely damaged during a chaotic evacuation of more than 120,000 people ahead of the August 31 deadline for US withdrawal from Afghanistan. The reopening of commercial flights will be a key test for the Taliban, who have repeatedly promised to allow Afghans with the right documents to leave the country freely.
