Travel Alert: Nigeria [September 2, 2021]

Travel Alert

On September 2nd, 2021, government officials in Kaduna State maintain restrictive measures in response to the pervasive insecurity posed by criminal groups (also called bandits) in the region. Officials have suspended weekly markets and banned the selling of fuel in jerrycans in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, and Kajuru Local Government Areas (LGA).

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence across the state in the near term and may launch targeted operations to apprehend armed gangs. Authorities may erect security checkpoints, road closures, and temporary curfews, should further violent incidents occur. Anti-government protests in response to the measures are also possible.
