Top officials in Bangladesh have made changes to international travel restrictions and have decided to prolong ongoing nationwide movement and gathering controls through at least July 14. The government continues to divide countries into three groups (A, B, C)
- Group A: All inbound and outbound travel is banned, except for returning Bangladeshis with special permission. Arriving travelers must undergo a 14-day institutional quarantine. As of July 6, Group A consists of Botswana, India, Mongolia, Namibia, Nepal, Panama, South Africa, and Tunisia. Controls apply to individuals who have a travel history in the designated countries within the previous 15 days, except for individuals who only transited through airports.
- Group B: Asymptomatic arrivals who are fully vaccinated may quarantine for 14 days in their residences; other travelers must undergo a 14-day quarantine period at a government-designated hotel. As of July 6, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Georgia, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, the UAE, the UK, and Uruguay are Group B countries.
- Group C: All countries neither in Group A nor B are in this category. Inbound and outbound travel is allowed. Arrivals from such nations must undergo a 14-day self-quarantine period; those with symptoms may face institutional quarantine.
Additional travel information
- Land border crossings as well as ports are only open to cargo shipments.
- Passenger travel is still unavailable until July 14th, expect extensions.
- Returning Bangladeshi are allowed back into the country.
- All returning passengers must have negative COVID-19 PCR test.
